LML Fellows Nicholas Moloney and Alex Adamou attended a celebration of the Nuffield Foundation’s 2016 summer research placements, one of which was hosted at LML.
The Nuffield Foundation aims to improve social well-being through education, research and innovation. This includes the Nuffield Research Placements which provide over 1,000 students each year with the opportunity to work alongside professional scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.
During the annual LML Summer School, Nicholas and Alex supervised a project placement for a Nuffield student who studied random matrices and their connection to mutually-avoiding random walks, using theory and numerical simulations. This would ordinarily be an advanced postgraduate topic.
