Stationarity of extreme bursts in the solar wind

Nicholas R. Moloney and Joern Davidsen have an article in Physical Review E on their analysis of extreme bursts in the solar wind:

They show that the statistics of extreme bursts are essentially independent of solar cycle, and that burst duration and energies follow power laws that are independent of (high) thresholds. This is consistent with what has been observed for solar flares and, thus, provides evidence in favour of a link between solar flares and extreme bursts in the solar wind.
