Science on Screen: The Life of Pi with Henrik Jensen
Henrik Jensen began the second season of Science on Screen with a thoughtful presentation on the role of narrative. As well as organising information plausibly and consistently, a narrative’s most important function is to open up new lines of inquiry. This applies to all human endeavours including, of course, science. As Pi retells his account of drifting across the Pacific for more than half a year, The Life of Pi invites multiple questions, from the prosaic ‘what actually happened?’ to the nebulous ‘what does it all mean?’
