My main area of research interest lies at the intersection of Statistical Physics, Mathematical Modelling of Physical Systems and Computations. Both my thesis projects for my Masters degrees and Bachelor of Science degree were in the field of Statistical Physics and Random Processes, respectively. In all my degrees I have been involved with some computations at some stage. For instance, in my Master’s thesis (both at AIMS and Stellenbosch University) there was 50 percent programming another 50 percent was analytical computations. The same applies to my undergraduate thesis
For my PhD degree under the supervision of Dr. Nicholas Moloney and Dr. Gunner Pruessner (LML-Roth Scholarship), I’m going to work on Constrained Paths and their Mappings. This lies in my area of research interest, which involves modelling systems of interacting particles and this interactions are most interesting ones both physically and mathematically. In the Physics side I’d like to make an example of a Phase Transition, a topic I worked on for my MSc thesis, if there is no interaction it means one cannot realise a phase transition in such a system and on the other hand introducing interactions can make it very challenging to find analytical tools to make the analysis. So, it calls for both analytical and computational tools to hope for a solution.
