Westworld (15)
+ Presentation from Alex Adamou

Applied mathematician, Alex Adamou, introduces Michael Crichtonís first feature film, Westworld.

Imagining a hedonistic holiday resort of the future, staffed by robots against whom acts of sexual and physical violence are offered to guests as recreational activities, Yul Brynner stars as a malevolent, malfunctioning robot, bent on exacting its revenge.

Hugely influential in the science fiction genre and released just as computers started to appear widely in industry and society, it raises questions of whether artificial intelligence might one day overtake its creators, and what the abuse of technology says about human morality.
